I met Yanni in the dining room on the first day that I arrived at Kibbutz Ein Hashofet to be a volunteer in 1975. He had just been released from the army, and sat down at the table to eat with me, for which I was grateful, because I didn't know anyone.. He was friendly, spoke excellent English, and we remained friends after that. I was terribly saddened when I heard about his death in the terror attack suddenly all the horrors of that Intifada period came home to me.... Funny that 47 years later I now live on the same kibbutz, and became friends with his mother Yehudit, who died onlylast month. Though I did not know Yanni well, I think about him often, and like to imagine the reunion of he and his mother...May you, and the other family members who died untimely and tragic deaths be reunited in love and peace.
